Frequently asked questions
The most common questions I get from clients
No, absolutely not! The solution I use is made of the highest quality, natural ingredients. I've been spray tanning for over 11 years and have developed quite an eye for evaluating skin tones and what would look. We will talk over the color you are wanting to achieve and I will formulate a custom solution made just for you!
Preparing for your tan
Its best if you can have at least 4 ours between your last shower/shave and your tanning appointment. This gives your pores time to close to avoid discoloration or lighter tan results.
Do not apply lotion the day of your tan!
If you shower the night before your tan, you may use lotion. The PH balancing prep spray included in every spray tan experience will help neutralize the skin and cut through any perspiration that may have occurred the day of and or lotion from the night before. If makeup or deodorant is unavoidable the day of your tan, I provide wipes for removal before your session.
Complete all other beauty services before the day of your appointment (like manicures, pedicures, waxing, lash appointments, facials, and massages)!
Bring (or wear) loose-fitting clothes to change into immediately after your spray tan.
Bring flip flops.
Leather/vinyl seats? Bring a large towel to cover so that you avoid sweating off your fresh tan from sitting on leather/vinyl seat.
Other helpful tips-
The week before your appointment, if possible, please moisturize your skin daily.
Hydration helps prepare your skin, and will make your tan last longer.
Do not use dove soaps of any kind, oil based body scrubs, or oil based lotions the night before appointment when prepping.
If you had a recent sunburn - please know that there is a high probability that your spray tan will look blotchy & your skin could peel wherever you have been sunburned, regardless if you already peeled or not.
If you are pregnant, please get your Dr.'s permission before making your appointment.
You will see the bronzer wash away. This is normal!
NO BABY OIL EVER.
Do not use AHA products (Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Glycolic, Lactic, Malic, Citric, and Tartaric acids)
Anti-acne products that exfoliate, or dry the skin such as Accutane, and Salicylic acid, can affect tan fading. Skin can also peel, which can look unacceptable, especially with a tan.
Anti-aging products that “renew” or “refresh” or otherwise exfoliate skin.
Band-Aids, or adhesive tape, applied to skin will pull the “tan” off.
Bar soaps are not recommended, especially deodorant, or antibacterial varieties.
No BHA Products (Beta Hydroxy Acids-salicylic acid)
Body hair bleach products will bleach the tan, non-bleach skin lighteners are fine.
Bore type adhesive facial strips, or “peel-off” masks
Bug spray, perfumes, body sprays when sprayed directly onto skin, can remove, fade or crack the tan. Instead, spray clothing instead of directly onto skin.
Facial masks and exfoliating scrubs. It is recommended that you do these before a spray tan.
If you exercise and sweat heavily your tan can fade faster, especially in body fold areas. (arm bends, armpits, knee bends, between breasts etc.)
The entire process takes about 15-20 minutes, from start to finish.
The typical spray tan will last 7-10 days with proper care and upkeep. It is important to follow the steps listed on our Tan Care page to get the best quality tan possible.
Call or text me at (816) 820-7974. The preferred method is by text. If I'm with a client, I can't answer the phone. If for some reason you haven't heard back from me within 24 hours, please feel free to text me again. I do my best to answer each call and text ASAP but admittedly miss one on occasion. Merp.
The simple answer is, I want YOU to be comfortable! Ladies, wear as much or as little as you'd like. Men and girls under the age of 16 are required to wear bottoms.
